These entertaining, intuitive, and non-competitive puzzles were created for children 3-,
4-, and 5-years-old and older. There are more than 100 puzzles that develop intelligence, imagination, and the first digital abilities. Kids will enjoy playing while they make up stories and develop their skills with our entertaining illustrations.

How to play? Very simple: in each of the three stages –one for each age– there is an

Vacaciones, excelente momento para leer/Vacations, an excellent moment for reading

Ya llegaron las vacaciones de verano y los chiquillos están en casa. Después de jugar, ver la tele, jugar videojuegos, pelearse con los hermanos y un gran etcétera, lo más probable es que van a buscar a los padres y les van a decir ––¡Estoy aburrido! ¡No tengo nada que hacer! ––Qué momento tan excelente para leerles un libro o empezar a leer con ellos uno más largo. Los libros los pueden conseguir en bibliotecas y librerías o pedirlos prestados de amigos y conocidos. Obvio, se debe buscar un libro que divierta a la familia y al que lee, para que el rato sea de lo más agradable. Dejen, por el momento, a los "clásicos" y busquen algo contemporáneo como los libros de autores e ilustradores mexicanos como Monique Zepeda, Felipe Ugalde, Elena Dreser, Rubí Juárez, Jaime Alfonso Sandoval, Fabricio Vanden Broeck, Gerardo Suzán, Natalia Gurovich, Karen Chacek, Alejandro Sandoval, Rosario Valderrama, Becky Rubinstein, M. Summer vacations are here and the kids are at home. After playing, watching TV, playing videogames, fighting with their siblings, and a big etcetera, they will most probably look for their parents and tell them, "I'm bored! I have nothing to do!" What an excellent moment to read them a book or to start reading a longer one with them. You can get the books from a library or a bookstore or borrow them from friends and family. Obviously, choose a book that will delight the family and the reader so that time goes by pleasantly. ¿De dónde vienen las ideas?/ Where do ideas come from?

El otro día vi un programa donde entrevistaban al gran Eric Carle, autor e ilustrador de libros clásicos como The Very Hungry Caterpillar y otros adorados por niños alrededor del mundo. Lo oí decir que a él, como a muchos de los que somos autores, por lo general le preguntan "¿De dónde vienen las ideas?" Claro que cada quien responde según su experiencia pero, para él, hay dos fuentes: uno de lo que hay afuera y el otro del corazón. Me gustó mucho la respuesta. ¿Ustedes qué piensan?

The other day I saw a program that featured the great Eric Carle, author and illustrator of classic books for kids like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and others adored by children around the world. I heard him say that he, like many others who are authors, are usually asked, "Where do ideas come from?" Of course, each one answers according to their experience but, for him, there are two sources: the first is from what is outside and the second from the heart. I liked his answer a lot. What do you think?

Libros de papel vs libros electrónicos/Paper books vs electronic books

A veces me pregunto, con toda la tecnología que tenemos a nuestro alcance, si los niños tendrán una relación cercana y algo “similar” con el libro parecida a la que tenemos los que somos de la generación de la "transición". Es obvio que, aunque muchos tendrán una relación cercana con la lectura, la respuesta es, me parece, "no".

Las cosas han cambiado y no hay forma de regresar al pasado, lo cual no necesariamente es ni bueno ni malo. Las cosas no son tan negras o blancas sino que hay una enorme gama de grises intermedia. Me explico: a mi me encantan los libros de papel pues son con los que crecí pero no tengo nada en contra de los libros electrónico por muchas razones. Uno de las cosas que me encantan de los libros de papel es que, entre otras cosas, no necesita enchufarse (buenísimo si se va la luz, por ejemplo) ni hay que tocar botones para usarse. No necesitan de un aparato caro para leerlo, se puede llevar a todos lados, no le pasa gran cosa si se cae y es especialmente adecuado para relajarse a la hora de dormir (a menos de que uno esté leyendo algo de terror…). Es, para mí, un amigo incondicional. Eso no quiere decir que esté en contra de los libros electrónicos porque tengo un Ipad, estoy encantada con él, puedo cargarlo con montones de libros (cosa muy buena cuando te vas de viaje por un largo periodo y no quieres cargar veine libros) y veo que tiene montones de cosas para entretener a los niños, pero, a estas alturas, no me veo sentada junto a uno de mis nietos leyéndoles algo que no está en papel. Cada cosa tiene su lugar pero me da tristeza pensar que, más adelante, los libros de papel pasarán a ser curiosidades como lo son, hoy en día, los teléfonos de disco y los walkman. También me da algo de tristeza que los libreros, hoy llenos de libros pasen a ser… ¿lugares para colocar qué? ¿El lector electrónico tipo Kindle o Nook? ¿Figuritas de porcelana, el recuerdo del viaje a un lugar exótico, macetas con plantas? Creo que yo, como parte de esa generación que está entre dos, seguiré amando mis libros de papel aunque leeré otras cosas en mi Ipad. Nada más hago la aclaración que, para mí, leer en la cama con el Ipad no es lo mismo que con un libro y, además, me da pánico que me quede dormida y se caiga. Se puede dañar, cosa que no pasará con el de papel. Además, en lo que se refiere a los niños, la experiencia cercana de sentar a un pequeño en tu regazo y abrazarlo (como hice durante muchos años con mis hijos), tomar un  libro, leer, darle la vuelta a las hojas, observar las ilustraciones y disfrutar del momento es, para mí, diferente y más cercano con un libro de papel que electrónico. Además, abrazar a un lector electrónico no es lo mismo.

Sometimes I ask myself, with all the technology we have around us, if kids will have a close or “similar” relationship with books that I and others of my “transitional” generation have. It’s clear that, though many will have a close relationship with reading, the answer is, I believe, “no”.

It’s obvious that things have changed and there is no way to return to the past, which is not necessarily good or bad. Things are not black or white but rather there is an enormous variety of grays in between. Let me explain: I love paper books, since they are the ones I grew up with, but I have nothing against electronic books for many reasons. One of the things I love about paper books is, among other things, that you don’t need to connect them to a socket (really good if the lights go out) and you don’t need to press any buttons to use them. You don’t need an expensive machine to be able to read, nothing much happens if you drop it, and it’s specially good for relaxing before going to sleep (unless you’re reading something scary…). It is, for me, an unconditional friend. This doesn’t mean that I’m against e-books because I have an Ipad, I’m very happy with it, I can carry lots of books with me (especially great when you’re going on a long trip and don’t want to lug twenty books with you), and I know that there are tons of things for entertaining kids but, somehow, I don’t see me reading to my grandkids with something other than a paper book. Each thing has its place but I’m saddened to think that, in the near future, paper books will probably become objects of curiosity such as, nowadays, telephones with rotary dialers and Walkmans. I’m also saddened that bookshelves, today filled with books, will be… spaces for what? All that empty space for only a Kindle or a Nook? Porcelain figurines, souvenirs from an exotic trip, plants? I think that, as part of this generation caught between two, I will continue to love my paper books though I’ll read some on my Ipad. I’d just like to clear up that, for me reading in bed is not the same with the Ipad as with paper and, besides, I’m concerned that, if I fall asleep, it can fall. It can get damaged, something that will not usually happen with the paper book. Besides, in what refers to kids, the close experience of sitting with a little one on your lap and hugging him or her (as I did for many years with my sons), grabbing a book, reading it, turning the pages, observing the illustrations, and enjoying the moment is, for me, different and closer with a paper book than an electronic one. Besides, hugging an electronic book is not the same.
